Dru's Story

DruI was first picked up as a stray.  The Humane Society was able to reunite me with my family and gave them pet care information, help on house training, and the loan of a training crate.

Two days later I was hit by a car, had a huge gash on my leg, and needed surgery.  My owners were not able to pay for the surgery or provide the medical care I required.  They relinquished ownership to the Warren County Humane Society and gave me the chance to find another home.

I needed several veterinary visits, extensive care, and medicine, but am now healthy and very happy with my new home and forever family.

Proud to be a "Society" dog,

Dru's new mom writes:

I just wanted to thank you so much for helping us to adopt Dru. He is such a joy. He has surprised us with his (mostly) good behavior and very loving personality and has adapted well to our routines. Even our older dog Maggie has taken to him nicely and our 2 cats Mitchy and Mousey are not hiding from him anymore. He must have been socialized very well while in your care. He has made himself quite at home already and it appears that he will be a quick learner. Good for me since it's been over 10 years since I've had to do much training. I know that because of your experienced placement procedures, that we have adopted the perfect pet for our happy family.

Thanks again...we really appreciated your kindness and support during our adoption process! We love him!

Twinkle and Rosie

Rosie and TwinkleTwinkle has been such a wonderful addition to our family!! I wanted to tell you a quick story.

Our little 3 year old Rosie (whom the dog has become incredibly attached) has had a problem with sleep walking for a little over a year. Right after we got Twinkle I heard Rosie fussing in her bed (which she always does before she gets up and starts sleep walking). I got up and Rosie was trying to get out of bed and Twinkle was gently blocking her path. Rosie tried to climb out of the bottom of the bed and Twinkle just kind of pushed her body back down onto the bed. Rosie laid back down and Twinkle snuggled her and they went back to sleep.

Now Twinkle sleeps on Rosie's bed and guess what? NO SLEEP WALKING ANYMORE!! That's just one example of the wonderful companion Twinkle has been to our family!! We are so happy to have her!!

The Huya Family

Michael, "Cloe", Tiffany, "Goldie" and Nicole HuyaCampaign Board Member, Dean Huya and his wife Lisa, showed his family the Four Paws Forward video for the Humane Society. "When I agreed to be on the committee", he said, "I needed my family to understand what I was going to be volunteering for and why." He said, "Halfway through, I looked around the room and I saw some sad faces and all of a sudden, Michael said," We should donate our allowance to help the animals."

These children visited and volunteered with their mom, when they were younger and adopted Goldie, a golden retriever mix. Dean said," I asked how much would you want to donate and Michael said," one month's worth." Dean said, " I explained what it meant and they were excited to do it"! In addition, Nicole will be coming down to volunteer.
