Thank you for Lexi

LexiLexi was adopted from the Warren Humane Society in Fall 2003. I had been searching for a Cocker Spaniel for several months. I had arranged to purchase an abused dog from the Cocker Spaniel Rescue in Virginia. Sadly, three days prior to her scheduled trip to Warren she passed in her sleep of a heart attack. This precious dog was a blonde cocker named Lexie.

I now had all of the toys, bedding, crate and food, but no Cocker Spaniel. Then I saw a poster from the Humane Society hanging on the wall at the Warren Public Library. In that picture was a beautiful chocolate cocker in need of a home. I went to visit her. I brought her home and named her Lexi.

When I adopted her, Lexi was 2-3 years old and housebroken. She already knew commands such as sit, lay, shake, speak and to go to the door when she needs to go out.

Lexi has a sister Sneakers, a 14 yr old Siamese cat. She loves to play with her toys, go for walks, chase birds, and play with her Cocker friend, Maisy. Lexi is very lovable and has been a great addition to my family. I’d be lost without her.

"I never thought I could love a dog so much!!"

Our family welcomed "Clarissa" (spaniel mix) to our home, from your shelter, in July 2003. We just call her "Rissa." She is so intelligent and lovable. She is just a gem! She absolutely adores our children and has the best manners.

The first night we brought her home I thought her tail would fall off due to all the wagging. I truly believe she knew she found a forever home. She came right in our house like she had always lived here and knew exactly where she belonged. She slept right on her own bed we provided the first night and never let out a whimper the whole night.

Rissa loves our cat and the cat adapted right away to her. She greeted us the next morning (and every morning since) with her tail wagging. She is just a delightful dog and all our guests love her too.

We tie her up when she goes out because we do live by the road, but she is VERY off leash reliable. We take her out for walks in the woods on our property and she stays right with us and listens to our every command.

She is so eager to please. I never thought I could love a dog so much!!! It really made me a believer that there are so many deserving dogs in the shelter just waiting. I hope hearing from us makes you believe in your job all the more.

I thank you for taking care of "Rissa" until we found her. I kept all the newsletters that you sent with her pictures in them and and placed them in our family scrapbooks.

Thanks again.
